phishing attack

Beware! Bad Actors have a devious new way to capture your login details!

As always – Do NOT open that PDF unless you are 100% sure it’s safe!

A new phishing attack has been discovered targeting Adobe users. This campaign uses an email that purports to be from the non-existent service Adobe Cloud, which informs the targeted individual that they have files to download.  The phishing attack carries all the hallmarks of previously seen campaigns. The email contains brand logos that appear genuine, as well as a URL, which until further inspection, looks like it contains an Adobe domain name.

The next stage of the attack prompts the victim to “Access Your Secured Document,” which subsequently leads them to a login page for Microsoft Office 365, Google, or their email account.  If the intended target does enter their details into the login page, they will have unwittingly handed over sensitive information. With the ill-gotten account credentials at their disposal, a cyberattacker can take over accounts belonging to the victim, sending further malicious emails in their name, and committing fraudulent activity.

We strongly advise all recipients to report these emails to your IT department or your Managed Services Provider as Phishing, or delete these emails immediately without clicking on any links.

As a precaution, we urge you not to click links within emails that:

  • Are not addressed to you by name.
  • Appear to be from a legitimate company but use poor English or omit personal details that a legitimate sender would include.
  • Are from businesses that you were not expecting to hear from.
  • Take you to a landing page or website that is not the legitimate URL of the company the email is purporting to be sent from.
